Leskowiec Little Beskids

wschód słońca na Leskowcu

34-125 Rzyki Tourist region: Beskid Mały i Makowski

Leskowiec is a peak in the Little Beskids. Its height is 922 metres above sea level. The mountain is located in the eastern part of the Little Beskids in the Łamana Skała Range.

The route to Leskowiec is relatively easy. Most of the ascent leads through the forest, and you must wait patiently for views until you reach the top.

When taking a walk (along the black trail) from the Rzyki Mydlarze hamlet, the trip will take about 2 hours unless you stay longer at the PTTK Leskowiec Mountain Hostel. However, in fact, it is located under the Peak of John Paul II, or Jaworzyna, which was mistakenly called Leskowiec. On the summit is a small shelter with benches and a special board describing the peaks that make up the panorama you can admire from Leskowiec. There is also a wooden millennium cross erected in 2000. Karol Wojtyła often visited the summit of Leskowiec in his youth.

There are two ways to return to Rzyki. Either using the already traversed and well-known black trail or following it a bit further via the Peak of John Paul II, where the chapel is located. Until 1981, the peak was called Jaworzyna, but it was decided to change its name because Karol Wojtyła often hiked here. Other trails lead to Leskowiec:

– the blue trail from Ponikwi via the PTTK Leskowiec Mountain Hostel and then the yellow trail: 2 hours 35 minutes, 6.2 kilometres;

– the yellow trail from Chobot via the PTTK Leskowiec Mountain Hostel and further along the yellow trail: 3 hours 35 minutes, 9.3 kilometres;

– the green trail from Świnna Poręba through the PTTK Leskowiec Mountain Hostel and further along the yellow trail: 3 hours 15 minutes, 8.1 kilometres;

– the blue trail from Tarnawa Górna through the PTTK Leskowiec Mountain Hostel and further along the yellow trail: 2 hours 15 minutes, 5.5 kilometres.
